Deckard Cain, one person always show up in Diablo 2
Deckard Cain is, aside from Diablo himself, probably the most iconic character in the Diablo series. In Diablo II, can is rescued from the ruins of Tristram in Act I during the quest The Search for Cain. After being rescued, Cain accompanies the player throughout the remainded of the game, identifying items free of charge (if the player does not rescue Cain hinmself, he will still appear in Act II, however he will then charge for identification, instead of offering the service for free).
Gossip
- "With hellspawn, size is no measure of their threat. Demons half the size of men can kill with a gesture, while hellish pack animals trample any who stand in their way."
- "Though these Barbarians are known throughout the kingdoms as ferocious fighters, they are also capable of great compassion. They have trained throughout history for a battle their legends foretell will decide the fate of the world."
- "The angel Tyrael has watched over the guardians of Arreat throughout history. I do not believe that Baal and Tyrael have come to fight over a paltry few souls. They are here to settle a conflict as old as time itself."
- "During my time with the Horadrim, we often debated the nature of Mount Arreat. We knew that the Barbarian clans zealously guarded the mountain as their sacred duty. However, many dismissed their zeal as simple superstition...combined with an inborn hostility toward outsiders. Those Horadrim who trekked up Arreat were never heard from again...Still, I do not believe they died at the hands of Barbarians."
- "All users of the magical arts know of Mount Arreat, but few understand its true nature. It is the nexus of an unfathomable magic. It bodes ill that the Lord of Destruction races to its summit with such purpose. I fear for the whole world should Baal gain what he seeks."
- "I have spent decades trying to understand the forces at work in this world. But in the face of all that is transpiring, I realize how meager my knowledge is. I will be of assistance where I can, my friend."
- "Though the Elder Council of Harrogath is gone, there are many capable young leaders to take their place. Anya certainly has enough courage and intelligence to lead them all, if they can survive this catastrophe."
- "Ah, Anya. Such a fine example of feminine strength... She reminds me of the Zakarum priestesses I knew in my youth. They don't take vows of chastity, you know."
- "It is fortunate that this town has such a talented smith. The quality of Larzuk's work surely complements your skills. In fact, he would have been quite welcome amongst the Horadrim."
- "It is my belief that the Soulstones are at the center of this conflict. If only that fool Marius had not intervened, Baal would still be imprisoned within Tal Rasha."
Quests
Siege on Harrogath
After Initated:
- "I believe that stopping the siege on Harrogath is the only way for you to earn the trust of these people."
Early Return:
- "I understand your reluctance, but now is the time to strike."
Success:
- "Those catapults were like nothing I have ever seen before. You have prevailed against Shenk, my friend, but Baal is still far ahead of you."
[edit]Rescue on Mount Arreat
After Initated:
- "I know firsthand that captivity is a sad fate for a man. Find them quickly."
Early Return:
- "If you are having trouble finding Qual-Kehk's soldiers, you should talk to Malah. She healed those who made it back before. Perhaps she would have some advice."
Success:
- "You've become a hero to this town, my friend. The shadows have lifted ever since you brought the Light to Harrogath."
[edit]Prison of Ice
After Initated:
- "I would listen to Malah. Nihlathak speaks with a venomous tongue and acts as if the entire weight of this town rests oh his shoulders. Perhaps there is more going on here than we know."
Early Return:
- "Nihlathak's story does sound reasonable, considering what I've heard about Anya. However, the best lies are often hidden within truth."
Early Return (After Finding Anya):
- "Goodness! Anya frozen by that fallen Barbarian, Nihlathak...Perhaps Malah can help you where I cannot."
Success:
- "For one so young, Anya commands great respect. Now that she is here, I will make it a point to talk to her about Mount Arreat. You should do the same."
Betrayal of Harrogath
After Initated:
- "Regretfully, I know very little about this Relic. However, if what the others say is true, then Baal must not gain possession of it. Stop Nihlathak...before all is lost."
Early Return:
- "Ohh...This is a truly horrible turn of events. I know it seems you have always been one step behind, my friend. But look at it this way...You have evil on the run."
Success:
- "Beware! Baal grows stronger with every passing moment."
Rite of Passage
After Initated:
- "A test of mettle is a fitting rite of passage for a Barbarian hero."
Early Return:
- "We have come too far to be defeated now, my friend. I have seen you complete many difficult quests. Though this may be your greatest trial, it is not beyond your reach."
Success:
- "You have proven yourself to these people. They look to you as their warrior, their champion."
Eve of Destruction
Early Return:
- "Remember this. Baal once possessed Tal Rasha, one of the most powerful of the ancient Horadrim. Your battles with Mephisto and Diablo will pale in comparison to your battle with Baal. The Lord of Destruction aided by Tal Rasha's knowledge...The mountain itself will tremble when you clash."
Success:
- "I knew in time you would defeat Baal. You have done everything you set out to do, my friend. Ever since you rescued me from Tristram, I have believed in you. It has been a supreme honor to aid you along the way. So..The Worldstone was corrupted by Baal. And now Tyrael must destroy it. Worry not. Through whatever lies ahead I have faith that the Light will guide us both. Go, now, back to the Worldstone chamber, and enter the portal Tyrael has opened for you."
Amazon --- My Favorite Class in Diablo 2
The Amazons are women warriors who hail from a group of islands in the Twin Seas, near the border of the Great Ocean. Only the permanently snow-covered peak of Mount Karcheus breaks the expanses of lush forests on the islands.
The Amazon people are a relatively isolated culture. Adapting over the centuries to their tropical milieu, they have built magnificent cities in the forest canopy. These cities are an architectural phenomenon and a source of great pride to the Amazon people. They do not follow the teachings of the Zakarum, but instead practice a polytheistic religion that adheres to the strict principles of Order. Their oracles long ago predicted the Dark Exile, and they have been preparing to combat it ever since. Amazons regard the destruction of the Three Prime Evils as their destiny, ushering in a new era when mortal men and women can at long last take their rightful place in the universe, no longer merely playthings for the beings of the Outer Realms.
The Amazons are a seafaring people, one of the first to have made trade contact with both the Kingdoms of the West and with Kejhistan in the East. Their prominence in the world's trade establishment has afforded their warriors the reputation they currently enjoy as cunning strategists and skilled combatants. They are much sought after as mercenaries, being both expert soldiers as well as extremely loyal - as long as the assignment does not conflict with their strict sense of ethics.
Their pantheon of gods consists of a well-defined hierarchy, each member upholding some segment of the balance of Order. It is this strong sense of order that drives the Amazon people to achieve greatness in even the smallest of their endeavors. Their prime deity is Athulua who, with her consort, Kethryes, rules over the seasons and the weather. Under these Goddesses are a wide assortment of lesser deities, each responsible for his or her own sphere of influence among the Amazon people's daily life. The Amazons believe this pantheon is the remnant of the original inhabitants that settled the islands centuries ago. According to ancient records, they share the same names as these gods, although aspects of their personalities seem to have evolved over the centuries.
In the Amazon culture, only the women serve as warriors, their intrinsic superior dexterity and lithe body structures are better suited to combat in the dense rainforest environs of the islands. Their society is far from stratified, however, as men are responsible for any number of positions in the community, government, and clergy, as well as merchant and agricultural occupations.
While more than competent in hand-to-hand combat, training in the jungles of her native islands has shaped the Amazon's skill with the bow and missile weapons into one of unparalleled excellence. With the bow, her only rivals are the Sisters of the Sightless Eye. But, unlike her sisters in arms, the Amazon is also highly adept in the use of spears and other thrown weapons. The powers they possess are a combination of Prime magic, Holy magic and ingenious weapon construction.

More patch, the closer Diablo 3 is.
As of the latest patch, stackable items can now be bought and sold on the gold Auction House. We're introducing crafting materials as the first stackable item, which includes Common Scraps, Subtle Essence, Fallen Teeth, and Petrified Bark. In the future, players will be able to trade a variety of stackable items including dyes, books, and gems.
So, what makes stackable items different?
In terms of the Auction House, stackable items are designed to make your life easier when it comes to buying or selling in bulk. Rather than having to hunt through pages of listings yourself to find the best-priced stack, you can instead select the stackable item type you're looking for, type in the amount of the item you want, and then buy that amount for the lowest price currently available to the market. This may mean that you're buying from multiple sellers at many different price points, and the Auction House will manage all of those individual purchases for you automatically.
Similarly, you can use the Auction House to quickly place your stackable items up for sale. Simply choose the amount you'd like to sell, type in the sale price for an individual item, and your auction is ready to go. Since the Auction House manages how others will purchase your items, there's no need to separate your items into smaller stacks or list them individually.
In part, this system in general is meant to mimic commodities in the real world. You buy generic goods, from many people, and the price of the units adapt over time as supply and demand change. To provide an example, let's say you want 50 Common Scraps. Based on a hypothetical market, you could end up buying:
The Auction House will make each of these individual purchases for you based on your original order.
It's important to note that you will always buy all of the stackable items listed at the lowest available price first before moving on to the more expensive ones. Also, before you buy, you will be presented with an "invoice" for your order which includes the amount and price of each item before you make your purchase. So, in this example, if there are 50 Common Scraps available at 0.45 apiece, you would be presented with an invoice showing you that you're buying 50 at that price point, as well as a dialogue box to confirm the total purchase for 22.50.
We encourage you to test out this new system at your convenience and then let us know what you think! For general feedback, go ahead and drop us a line here or in the Beta Feedback forum. For issues using the Auction House or buying/selling stackable items, please post in the Beta Bug Report forum.

Dialbo 2 story line
The story of Diablo II takes place soon after the end of the original Diablo. At the end of Diablo, Diablo, Lord of Terror was defeated by a mortal hero. The hero who slew Diablo (i.e. the Warrior character of the first game) drives the soulstone of Diablo (a magical stone containing the soul of a demon or angel) into his own head in an attempt to contain Diablo in his own body. After this event, the hero is rapidly corrupted by Diablo and loses control of Diablo's soul slowly. In the opening cinematic of Diablo II, Marius, the narrator of the story, witnesses the fallen hero (known only as the Dark Wanderer) totally lose control, unleashing the demons of Hell upon a tavern. Marius is the only survivor (it is implied that rather than just being blind luck, the demons were ignoring him), and he feels compelled to follow the Wanderer for reasons he himself does not understand. The new player character is a different hero following in the wake of the destruction, chasing the Dark Wanderer, hoping to put an end to the demon lord within him. The new hero ultimately catches up to the Wanderer outside the city of Kurast but is unable to stop him. The rest of the story is revealed through the four acts, as the player faces not just the demon lord Diablo, but two new major villains, his equally malevolent brothers, fellow Prime Evils Mephisto, Lord of Hatred and Baal, Lord of Destruction. Diablo is determined to free them from their soulstone incarceration, which was forced upon all three long ago, and from which Diablo managed to break free in the first game. The hero travels through different lands to thwart the forces of The Burning Hellsfrom conquering the world known as Sanctuary.
The story tells about seven "Great evils" (7 is the number of the powers of hell), some of them are slain in Diablo 2, but two, as of Lord of Destruction, have not yet been seen.
- The "Lesser Evils"
- Duriel, the Lord of Pain (slain in D2, act II)
A very fast and very aggressive enemy. His pure physical strength can easily overwhelm an unprepared player. He attacks using his large claws, and may also freeze the player, making it even easier for him to quickly dispense of opposition. He is found in the true Tomb of Tal Rasha by placing the Horadric Staff into a pedestal.
- Andariel, the Maiden of Anguish (also known as Demon Queen, slain in D2, act I)
A fairly powerful enemy using mainly poison based attacks. She uses homing poison arrows, poison spray and the weak claws on her back in hand-to-hand battle. She is found in the bottom level of the monastery behind a large set of wooden doors, surrounded by her minions.
- Belial, the Lord of Lies (Has not yet appeared.)
- Azmodan, the Lord of Sin (Has not yet appeared.)
- The "Prime Evils"
- Mephisto, the Lord of Hatred (eldest of three brothers, slain in D2, act III)
He uses several powerful lightning attacks and doesn't have a melee attack. He can be found in his lair in the temple city of Travincal in Kurast by destroying the Compelling Orb that locked him in his lair. You must use a unique flail called Khalim's Will to destroy it, created after finding the relics of Khalim and transmuting them with Khalim's flail in a Horadric Cube. Beware of the many allies and minions he has throughout the Durance of Hate-the Council Members in particular. Maffer Dragonhand is nearly as dangerous as Mephisto himself.
- Diablo, the Lord of Terror (slain in D2, act IV)
The Leader of the Three. He uses the fire element. He is a powerful boss, especially in later difficulties. Beware of his Red Lightning Hose attack, which resembles a long red stream of lightning spraying from his mouth, as even characters with good vitality can be killed in one full blast, it is the strongest attack in the game. However this attack is slower than most of his other ones and can be easily avoided. His attacks include: Red Lightning Hose, Fire ring, Firestorm (similar to the Druid's but much stronger, the same released by Hellfire torch), Bone Prison (cast on town portals), Cold Touch (freezes you) and a melee attack, in which he will charge quickly toward the player. He appears after activating the five seals and defeating their protectors, the Lord De Seis (Unique Oblivion Knight), Infector of Souls (Unique Venom Lord) and Grand Vizier of Chaos(Unique Doom Caster.)
- Baal, the Lord of Destruction (slain in D2 Expansion: Lord of Destruction, act V)
He is found in the Worldstone Keep. After destroying the five swarms of his minions, he'll walk into the portal toWorldstone Chamber, the battleground. He uses fire strikes and a cold attack, the latter of which causes a severe knock back, as well as freezing, a kind of Inferno that drains your mana and also a curse that will damage you if you try to cast any spell (he only uses it if you have more mana than life). He also summons a copy of himself, capable of using all of his attacks, only adding to the troubles of anyone attempting to slay the Lord of Destruction.
